Passkeys are available to sign into your Ramsey account. They work across all our products, including EveryDollar, Ask Ramsey, and Financial Peace University.
What Is a Passkey?
A passkey is a faster, safer, and easier way to sign in. You do not need to remember a password. With a passkey, you can sign in with something you already use every day, like:
- Facial recognition
- A fingerprint
- Your device PIN or lock screen
- Your password manager (like iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, 1Password, etc.)
Passkeys use advanced encryption. They are tied directly to you and your device. Ramsey Solutions never sees or stores your passkey information. We are simply notified that your device approved the sign-in. There are no passwords to remember. There is nothing for hackers to steal.
Why Are Passkeys Better Than Passwords?
Passkeys Have Stronger Security
- Passkeys can't be guessed, reused, or stolen in a data breach.
- They protect you from phishing scams and fake login pages.
- Your private credentials never leave your device.
Passkeys Make Signing In Faster
- No typing long passwords.
- No password resets.
- Just approve the sign-in, and you're done.
Passkeys Are One Less Thing to Remember
- One less account password in your life.
- They work with the devices and tools you already use.
Passkeys Keep Your Biometric Data Private
- Your fingerprint, face, or device PIN never leaves your device.
- Ramsey Solutions never sees or stores your biometric information. We are simply notified that your device approved the sign-in.
How Passkeys Work at Ramsey Solutions
New Accounts
When you create a new Ramsey account, you'll be asked to set up a passkey. You can still use a password if you'd prefer.
Existing Accounts
If you already have a Ramsey account, we'll ask if you want to create a passkey the next time you sign in. If you're not ready, you can snooze the reminder. You can continue using your password.
How Do I Set Up a Passkey?
Setting up a passkey is quick and easy:
- Create or sign in to your Ramsey account.
- When prompted, choose "Create a Passkey".
- Approve the setup using your device (facial recognition, fingerprint, PIN, etc.)
That's it. You're all set.
Your passkey can be saved to your password manager or device. Depending on your settings, it may be available across all your devices.
How Do I Sign In With My Passkey?
Once you've created a passkey:
- Enter your email address or choose "Continue With a Passkey".
- Approve the sign-in on your device.
How Do I Sign In on a New Device?
If you're signing in on a new device that doesn't already have your passkey:
- Select "Continue With a Passkey".
- You will be prompted to use the device where you created the passkey. Sometimes this involves scanning a QR code. Follow the instructions.
- Follow the prompts to create a new passkey on the new device. Or continue without creating a new passkey if the device is for public use. Do not create a passkey on a public device.
How Do I Manage or Remove My Passkey?
Passkeys are managed directly through your device or password manager. They are not managed inside your Ramsey account.
To remove a passkey:
- Delete it from your device settings.
- Or remove it from your password manager.
What If I Lose My Device?
If you get a new device, your passkeys can come with you. Most passkeys are securely backed up through your password manager. This includes cloud services like Apple or Google.
If you can't access your passkey, click "Need help signing in?" on the sign-in page. You'll be guided through creating a password using your email.
What If My Passkey Doesn't Work?
If your passkey isn't available on a device or your browser doesn't support passkeys yet, click "Need help signing in?" on the sign-in page. You'll be guided through creating a password using your email.
Do I Still Need a Password?
No. A passkey replaces your password. However, a password is still available as an option.
How Do Passkeys Work With Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
If you have MFA set up and create a passkey, MFA still applies. You will still be prompted for a one-time password after signing in.
Can I Trust Passkeys?
Passkeys are a modern security standard used by companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and PayPal. They are proven and trusted. They are built to protect you.
